Honeymoon Reel (The)

“The Honeymoon” is a reel I learned from one of the best sessions I ever saw, during the Russell Memorial Weekend back in 2013 in Gus O’Connor’s Pub. It was a magical night with free flowing music by Noel O’Donoghue, James Cullinan, Donie Nolan, Christy Barry, Terry Bingham, Carol Cullinan, Angela Crotty and several others.

Yvonne Casey also recorded it on her first solo album.

Luachrachán’s Jig (The)

The Luachrachán’s Jig was composed by Junior Crehan from Ballimackea near Miltown Malbay. It is a common session tune that I learned from Junior Crehan’s Daughter Angela Crotty at a session in Gus O’Connor’s Pub.

Maids of Mitchelstown (The)

“The Maids of Mitchelstown” is a wonderful tune that was made popular by The Bothy Band, on their album Out Of The Wind Into The Sun. I believe the original key was D minor, and I learned it in that key from my friend Tom Delany. It is also quite common in E minor in sessions around Doolin, as recorded by the great band Moher.
