I find amazing what Charles & JB have achieved with their CD. I remember when Charles first came to Doolin from Switzerland in 2006, he started to play the tin whistle then and picked up the concertina the following year. He progressed over the years and met JB in 2017. JB grew up in Brittany, listening to traditional music, and in particular Clare music. Their music developed naturally, and this album is a great addition to their contribution to Traditional Irish Music. The accompaniment from Vincent and Alan, with whom I have enjoyed playing on many occasions, also adds to the album in a very nice and subtle manner.

There is a strong North Clare influence of old favourites in this highly accomplished duet album. Charles and JB have achieved an intimate musical atmosphere by recreating the sound of a relaxed kitchen session. I am sure this album will give you many hours of enjoyable listening.

I was honoured to be asked to listen to this recording and was amazed how well Charles and JB had captured the draíocht of Clare music in this stunning CD. Some tunes in particular remind me of nights in the mid 60’s with Packie Russell holding court in O’Connor’s pub and Micho rolling his eyes as he played “The Little Black Pig”. Best wishes for this great album.
