Polca Dálaigh

I learned “Polca Dálaigh” (Daly’s Polka) from Breanndán Ó Beaglaoich and Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh on their album “A Moment of Madness“. As you probably all know, we don’t play many polkas here in Clare, but when that album came out I had to learn a few. It is a really great album which I highly recommend.

Cooley’s Reel

This is a very famous reel associated with Joe Cooley, the great accordion player from Peterswell in Co. Galway. The original title of this tune was “The Tulla Reel” I believe, but it has been known as “Cooley’s Reel” for a long time now, and it is very often followed by “The Wise Maid”.
