Glen Road To Carrick (The)

“The Glen Road To Carrick” is a great reel from Donegal which I learned from the playing of James Cullinan and Dermot Byrne. They played an amazing concert at the Corofin Trad Fest back in 2013, and I learned this tune afterwards. They actually recorded it a good few years ago (1987!) for a TG4 program, you can watch the video below!

“Have a Drink with Me” is a common session tune which I learned through various sessions. I associate this tune with Mary MacNamara though, who recorded it on her album “Traditional Music from East Clare”.

Caisleán an Óir

Caisleán an Óir (The Golden Castle) was composed by Junior Crehan from Miltown Malbay. I learned it from Terry Bingham, who often plays it after “If there weren’t any woman in the world”. It was also recorded on Matt Molloy and Sean Keane’s brilliant album “Contentment is Wealth”.
